by Carol Krentzman and illustrated by Helen Salzberg To order your own postage paid copy of A YEAR at the FARM, send a $12 check or money order (per book) payable to NCOF/Children's Book, 117 Eliot Street, Natick, MA. 01760 and we will mail your book(s) to you! If you would like to visit the Farm, you can buy a copy of the book for $10 in the Market Stand. The 40-page, full color, 81/2² x 11² paperback book teaches children (and their teachers and their parents) about the cycles of production on our working organic farm including maple sugaring, starting seedlings, birthing of baby animals, transplanting, planting, sheep shearing, bee keeping, raising the animals, goat milking, daily chores, greenhouse activities, harvesting and finally, cover cropping to begin the cycle all over again.
(Click on the photo to meet Sophie!) A YEAR at the FARM is organized into four sections: winter, spring, summer and fall. Carol A. Krentzman, from Natick, has written the book with humorous experiences interwoven with facts that interestingly detail educational information about NCOFıs organic farming practices. The illustrations are by Helen M. Salzberg, a well-known folk artist from New York City, whose lively, brightly colored paintings, entertainingly adorn each page. The book is appropriate for children ages 2 and up, and for adults, with sections of detailed informational text, short explanations and simple captions.
