Frequently Asked Questions about Summer Programs
What if my child has a birthday mid summer?
When registering your child, please use their age as of June 20th.
What if we are running late to pick up our kids?
If you are running late, call the main number (508) 655-2204 as soon as you know that you’re going to be delayed. If your child is not picked up within 5 minutes of the end of the class time, you will be charged a $5 late fee, then $1 per minute for every minute until someone picks him or her up.
Will I get a refund if I cancel?
All cancellations and changes made within 5 business days will be processed at no cost. Changes and cancellations made after 5 business days will be processed at a $25 fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made after May 15th.
What will my child be doing at the farm?
The answer is, “a lot!” Activities vary, depending on the group your child is in, and what needs to be done on the Farm. For a more detailed look, please read the descriptions of each summer program which are linked to the Summer Programs page. With the possible exception of Forest Explorers, everyone will get to work with the animals, work with plants in some way, and explore the different natural spaces that we have here at the Farm.
Can my child bring a friend for the day?
Sorry, but no. Our classes are usually full to capacity. Adding another person into the group creates more work for the teachers, and gives them less time for the other kids.
If you would like to have a friend come to the Farm, invite them to walk the farm with your child after class, or encourage them to enroll in the program, if there’s an opening.
What else should my child bring?
Bring a water bottle and a healthy snack.
My payment isn’t going through online. What do I do?
Email Jon, the Summer Program Coordinator for assistance. All payments must be made before the first day of the program to keep things fair.
What if we need to drop off our kids early?
We do not allow early drop off. Occasionally, we will make an exception; when we do, we need to charge you the for the extra staff time. Fees start at $20/day; all early drop-offs must be worked out in advance with the Summer Program coordinator.
How does the farm handle any health/behavioral concerns?
If you have concerns about enrolling your child, schedule a visit with the Summer Program Coordinator for you and your child to come in, see the Farm, meet the staff, and check things out.
If your child is enrolled, and you have concerns about how he or she is doing, or feel that he or she may need some extra attention, please don’t hesitate to contact our Summer Program Coordinator.
If you are concerned about your child’s health, such as his/her allergies, be sure to note your concerns on your child’s registration, fill out all appropriate health forms, and speak to the Summer Program Coordinator. The Summer Program Coordinator will share this information only on a need-to-know basis.
What if something happens to my child while they are on the farm?
We practice standard first aid for small cuts, scrapes, stings, and bruises. In the case of something more serious, we’ll call you immediately by telephone. For emergencies, we call 911 for medical assistance.
